This is great news for the up-and-coming alto saxophonist, Miguel Zenon. At only thirty years of age, he becomes the youngest musician to ever receive a MacArthur Grant, worth a total of $500,000. Zenon, originally from Puerto Rico, now residing in NYC is an extremely talented saxophonist and composer. His latest album, Awake, is a great example of mature improvising that incorporates the flavors of latin jazz into his own unique compositions. Congrats Miguel!
