Guillermo Klein's Los Guachos have a new album out titled, Filtros. I was first attracted to Klein's music about two years ago, when I was working to expand my rhythmic improvisation horizons. All the players in this group, some of which are my favorites (Miguel Zenon, Ben Monder, Jeff Ballard, Chris Cheek, etc.), have the ability to take Klein's intricate rhythmic compositions and explore those rhythmic ideas within in the context of their improvisational solos. There is a live set of Los Guachos playing at the Village Vanguard earlier this month on NPR. I highly recommend checking out Miguel Zenon's solo on Klein's version of Fascinating Rhythm!
