Chris Potter, saxophonist/jazz artist extraordinaire, graces the cover of Downbeat magazine this month. As the article states, Potter has emerged as one of the leading voices on the saxophone today, and now holds his own branch of the jazz saxophonist tree. The article is a great read, and it gives us, the readers, just a little glimpse of how Chris Potter views himself as a musician and as an artist. He is uncompromising, and knows that hard work plays an equal part as talent does in the success of a jazz artist's career in today's society. Ever since I heard the bootleg recording of Potter playing "All The Things You Are" at some masterclass, I have been a huge fan! For me, Potter is the epitome of all that I strive to be as a musician, as an artist.
